Dymocks Tutoring and Dymocks Books & Gifts unleash the potential of Australia’s young storytellers with the launch of the ‘Dymocks Beyond Words Creative Writing Competition’. A youth writing competition with Australia’s largest prize pool.

Dymocks Tutoring and Dymocks Books & Gifts are excited to announce the launch of the “Dymocks Beyond Words Creative Writing Competition” for primary and high school-aged children across Australia. This national competition aims to promote creative writing among young writers, particularly those who may not traditionally engage with literacy and creative writing efforts.

The Dymocks businesses have a rich heritage in Australian literature with Dymocks Books & Gifts, Australia’s leading omni-channel bookseller, having served  Australian booklovers  since 1879. Dymocks Tutoring, a recent addition to the Dymocks Group, more recently reaffirms the Dymocks commitment to literacy and education with the launch of online and physical learning centres in Sydney’s west – rapidly becoming one of Sydney’s leading school tutoring providers.

The Dymocks companies believe in the power of reading and writing to inspire and transform lives. The competition aligns with the Dymocks’ mission to nurture the next generation of writers, encourage young people to engage with reading and writing, and contribute to building a more literate and creative society.

“The launch of the competition is a natural step for Dymocks considering our legacy as an Australian family business and our long-standing support for literacy and literature in Australia,” says Mark Buckland, Group Director and Managing Director of Dymocks Tutoring. “Not only are we one of Australia’s oldest and largest booksellers but our support for education both through our tutoring initiatives at Dymocks Tutoring and our charitable endeavours at the Dymocks Children’s Charities mean that we are well placed to support the writers of tomorrow, wherever they may be. Personally, coming from Sydney’s west, I am particularly proud of our support for a range of special awards that recognise the importance of voices from less privileged backgrounds including First Nations, EALD, the west and rural communities”.
